Security Considerations

After Resetting Password

Immediate Actions:

  • Sign in with new password to verify it works
  • Update password in any password managers
  • Update saved credentials in browsers (if used)
  • Sign out of any other active sessions

Security Best Practices:

  • Don't reuse old password
  • Don't use similar password to old one
  • Don't share new password with anyone
  • Store securely (password manager or secure note)
  • Use unique password for this account

Choosing Secure Passwords

Password Manager Recommended:

  • Generates strong, unique passwords
  • Stores securely
  • Auto-fills when needed
  • Examples: 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden

Manual Password Creation:

  • Use passphrase technique
  • Mix multiple words with numbers and symbols
  • Example: Coffee&2024Morning!
  • Easier to remember than random characters

What to Avoid:

  • Personal information (name, birthday)
  • Common words or phrases
  • Sequential characters (abc, 123)
  • Keyboard patterns (qwerty, asdf)
  • Previously breached passwords
