Class Features

Understanding Classes

What is a Class?

A class is an instance of a course - a scheduled teaching session where:

  • An instructor delivers course content
  • Students attend and participate (onsite or online)
  • Attendance is recorded
  • Feedback is collected post-session

Class Structure

Most classes have 12 sessions each:

  • Level 1 classes - 12 sessions
  • Most Level 2 classes - 12 sessions
  • Stream courses (Spiritual Leadership or Supportive Leadership) - 6 sessions
  • Homiletics - 9 sessions

Level 2 students must choose one of two streams: Spiritual Leadership or Supportive Leadership. Each stream has courses with 6 sessions.

Onsite vs Online Classes

Each class runs in two formats simultaneously:

Onsite/Physical Classes:

  • Start time varies by campus (often evening)
  • May span 2-3 days depending on the campus schedule
  • Attendance uploaded by Campus Admin
  • Students attend in person at their campus

Online Classes:

  • Start at 12:00 AM on the same day as the physical class
  • End exactly one week after start
  • Students mark their own attendance
  • Access course content through the platform

Both onsite and online students take exams online through the platform.

Class vs. Course

  • Course - The subject being taught (e.g., "Introduction to Ministry")
  • Class - A specific instance of that course at a campus

Each course is delivered as a class with multiple sessions. Students must attend sessions to be eligible for exams.

Exam Eligibility

Students must have attendance for at least 11 sessions (out of 12) to be eligible to take the class exam. This applies to both:

  • Onsite students (attendance recorded by Campus Admin)
  • Online students (self-marked attendance)

Class Lifecycle

Schedule Published → Class Opens → Sessions Held → Attendance Recorded → Exam Available → Feedback Collected
  1. Schedule Published - Training Center Division publishes schedules before school year
  2. Class Opens - Class becomes available on scheduled date
  3. Sessions Held - Students attend sessions (onsite or online)
  4. Attendance Recorded - Campus Admin uploads onsite attendance; online students mark their own
  5. Exam Available - Students with 11+ sessions can take exam (during class open period)
  6. Feedback Collected - Students provide feedback on the class
